    Hi Terry
What a wonderful series of articles – congratulations!
My father (Alexander Marshall McMillan) was born in Hamilton in 1912 and went on to be a trainee mining engineer with the John Watson Earnock Colliery. He then progressed to be a surveyor with Basinghall Mining Syndicate at Greenside lead mine in Glenridding before severing his ties with Scotland in 1939! He never spoke about those prewar days and didn’t even mention he had a twin sister to any of his English family!
I was wondering if you might have some info or even a photo of him or one of his 5 brothers and father from Blantyre who all worked in the coal mines in those early 20th century days – he’s been deceased since 1988 and my brother and I would love to know more about his early life.
    Best regards
    Malcolm McMillan
