Neilsland House.

This is a photograph of Neilsland House (Formerly Mid Stonehall). The exact date that the photo was taken is unknown but at a guess I would say around the mid c. 1940’s. The grand house was demolished c. 1960 and was once the home of Thomas and Lucy Watson. Thomas was second oldest Son to Sir John Watson Bt Of Neilsland And Earnock. The Neilsland area where the house was once situated now forms part of a popular “Nature Trail” located between the present day Woodhead and Little Earnock housing estates.

Sir John Watson Bt Of Neilsland And Earnock c. 1898 Photo At Heliopolis Obelisk, Egypt.

This is an original photograph of Sir John Watson Bt of Neilsland and Earnock and his second Wife Harriet Drury Mackenzie Visiting the Heliopolis Obelisk (Now Cairo) in Egypt c. February 1898. He died during September of the same year. The photograph is actually fixed to the reversed side backing of my other history note entitled ” The Neilsland Monster.” The document formerly belonged to Jeanette (Watson) Jack (Who also wrote The Neilsland Monster Story) and it was her granddaughter Louise Jack, who subsequently gifted it to me.
